A Moment with Ashley Jean: Her Journey of Becoming A Boss

Updated: Oct 7, 2023

WOL's Boss Academy has helped countless bosses nationally achieve their goals and become an inspiration for other bosses. One WOL Boss, who has found great success within the WOL Boss Academy, is Ashley Jean. Ashley Jean has achieved six figures and recently opened her own studio through photography and creative marketing/branding.

Below is our exclusive interview with Ashley:

How did you realize your passion for photography and creative marketing/branding?

I've always loved to be creative. I've been passionate about helping people stand out and grow their businesses since I first saw the impact my branding work had on one of my clients. I got into creative marketing when I was consistently capturing branding photos and videos of a fitness client I was working with, and he was able to utilize the photos I captured for him in his marketing materials to grow his business. Now he's known as one of the most famous fitness TikTok influencers. It was so inspiring and exciting to see my work being used by an entrepreneur who's doing so well, so that's what made me want to keep going with my photography business (now a Creative Marketing Agency) and start doing more professional photo and video shoots and branding sessions for other businesses. After this experience, I started delving deeper into brand strategy and graphic design work, which led to me learning how to create effective marketing campaigns. Now, I'm passionate about creating engaging visual content that helps brands communicate with their audiences in a meaningful way.

Is there anything you wish you would’ve known before becoming a boss? If so, explain.

I wish I would’ve known that my brain would be on work mode 24/7! I really have to be intentional about how and where I spend my time. I have to make sure that I block out time ahead of time in my schedule for self-care days to give my body and mind the rest that I need to avoid burn-out. I struggled with this when I first became a full-time entrepreneur but through experiences and trial and error, I’m finally happy with how my weekly schedule is set-up. I also wish I would’ve known that it takes time to build your audience and brand recognition. It can be frustrating when you feel like you haven't made any progress after starting your business but it's important to remember that it's going to take time for people to recognize what you're doing and why they should engage with you on social media or visit your website. Once they do, it’s SO rewarding and 1000% worth the wait!

What do you find most fulfilling about entrepreneurship?

I find the most fulfilling part about being a boss is having the opportunity to help my team reach their fullest potential. I take great satisfaction in seeing them succeed and grow, knowing that I had a hand in helping make that happen. It’s incredibly gratifying to witness as each individual develops into a more confident, capable professional who can take on bigger and better challenges with enthusiasm. Seeing the positive results of hard work, dedication, and collaboration is incredibly rewarding, and that’s why I enjoy being a boss.

Do you feel it’s important to be multifaceted as a boss and entrepreneur? If so, why?

Yes, I strongly believe it is important to be multifaceted as a creative boss. When you have multiple perspectives and experiences at your disposal, you are better able to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions. Being multifaceted also gives your insight into multiple customer points of view, allowing you to craft campaigns that are more likely to resonate with the target audience. As a creative boss, it pays to have a range of skills and experiences so you can draw from them when faced with difficult decisions. All in all, being multifaceted as a creative boss is essential for success.

What advice would you give to a boss starting their own business?

My advice would be to plan ahead and anticipate as many potential problems as possible. As a boss, it'ss important to understand the ins and outs of running a business – from taxes to managing employees, setting prices, marketing strategies, and so on. It’s also essential to have an emergency fund in case things don’t go as planned. A detailed business plan is also necessary to address all the financial needs and goals of the company – such as how to make profits or when to expand. Lastly, don’t forget to take care of yourself and set time aside for rest and relaxation. Being a successful business owner demands a high level of dedication, but it’s important to remember that taking care of yourself is just as important as running the business. With careful planning, dedication, and a clear vision for success, you can be an amazing boss!

Ashley is proof that with hard work, dedication, and support from the WOL Boss Academy, you can become the boss of your dreams!
